Heights Apartments Price

Hi, I will be moving to Houston soon and I am looking for an apartment in Heights area. It seems like the price range for one bed is $1500-1600 (they are pretty luxurious tho) and I wonder if it's normal. I thought Houston is cheap. I will be making $110k, and do you think spending $1500+ for housing is little bit too much?
