HCAD – property taxes

When I received my Harris County appraisal District notice for this year the value of my place increased by 10%. I protested online in March and today I finally received an offer and they took off $2800. I am debating whether I should set a hearing date to go in person and protest further. I live in a townhouse, the HOA has done so much foundation work (at least the third time in 15 years) the walls are cracking, and splitting at the seams, they took up 4 tiles from my floor in 5 places and barely gave me and money to get fixed. I won’t be able to match these tiles I put, Which means I would have to pay somebody to come in and rip the whole 600 ft.² out and then buy 600 ft.² of tile and supplies to have installed – addition to damages I’ve had that I have not been able to get fixed because of the virus and additional health issues. I claim the homestead exemption but I’m only 60 so I can’t claim anything else. I’m very curious about what everybody else in Harris county is doing how many people are protesting and how much they have tried to settle with you and if you didn’t like it are you going to go for a hearing in person, I’ve done all mine online & sent lots of photos too. they have just changed property management again for the third time in four years. I have no clue why and I will say this is at Westberry Gardens 77035.
