HCAD Partial Year Exemption

I closed on my home on April 1.

The previous owner had a homestead exemption on the property as it was their main residence.

I just received a tax bill for the full year (as expected) but with the exemption adjusted to reflect my ownership period (April 1 – Dec 31) despite the fact that there was an exemption on the property the entire year (previous owner from Jan 1 – Mar 31, me from Apr 1 – Dec 31).

Will HCAD adjust? This would reduce my tax bill by over $1k.
