Has it always been called "inside the loop"?

Anyone can [and probably will] answer, but my question is specifically for native or longtime Houstonians: in the 90s, what did we call the area that we now know as "inside the loop"? I'm uninterested in debating what's considered "inside the loop"! I just want to know if we always referred to it using that phrase, or was another phrase used, specifically in the early 90s.
