Has anyone used those no insurance, membership only doctors offices?

New to the city. There are some doctors offices in Houston who operate on a membership only service and do not deal with insurance at all. Has anyone used these and are they good? It looks tempting, but the old mantra of “if it looks too good to be true, it probably is” keeps making me second guess it.
