Has anyone bikepacked the Sam Houston Restaurant Tour recently?

First time doing any kind of bicycle touring, was wondering if anyone had some tips or suggestions. I heard something about a hidden lake? Favorite spots to camp? Also it seems Carmelita’s Taquieria is closed on the weekends now, which means bringing extra food. TIA!
