Harris County shelter is suspending intakes, waiving adoption fees for ALL dogs
"The shelter has been operating above capacity for months. It currently has 490 dogs in its care, with the capacity to comfortably care for half of that.
The shelter will not accept animal intakes from the public in unincorporated Harris County through Nov. 4. After Nov. 4, the shelter will cut the number of owner surrender appointments each week to just 30.
As of Nov. 5, the shelter will implement a new policy that animals cannot be held at the shelter longer than 60 days unless more time is needed to treat a medical condition. It is unclear how the shelter will handle accommodations for those long-staying pets."
