Hard of Hearing but not Deaf…yet ?

Hey Houston

I'm an almost 30 year-old who mysteriously began losing my hearing a couple years ago. I'm not quite deaf, but my hearing is poor enough to require hearing aids. It's still difficult to fully grasp what others are saying at times. I don't fit in the deaf community, and the hearing world can be harsh to keep up with sometimes.

I'm just curious to know if there are any others like this in Houston. After looking for similar individuals, I've come to find out that deaf and hard-of-hearing folk are a fairly small minority, which makes it harder to connect with them around you. Many of them are fully deaf and/or fully fluent in ASL. Although I'm currently learning ASL, I'm nowhere near being fluent.

I can hear, just not well at times, and I'm at a point where I'd like some people to connect with who are patient and relaxed and not high-strung about miscommunication at times.
