Gun Education & Shooting Practice/Training

I’m going to be relocating to Houston (from New Orleans) in the next couple months, and I’m wanting to not only educate myself on State & Local gun laws, but also perhaps give target shooting a try as a hobby.

Can anyone recommend some quality ranges that also offer educational programs / license-to-carry programs / target shooting with a trainer? I’m going to do some personal research online, but I do very well in classroom-type settings with hands-on training.

I’ve got some entry level experience with a variety of handguns and rifles, very limited hunting experience and some target shooting experience. So I’m not completely at novice level, but I would definitely benefit from some experienced guidance.
