Guitar Shopping Help Needed

My husband is about to turn 50 and I would like to buy him a very sentimental, but practical, gift.

Both he and his dad play guitar…when his dad turned 50, about 20 years ago, we bought him a 12 string, semi acoustic, fender (no longer in production) to mark the occasion.

I would like to gift my husband a similar 12 string to mark the occasion…. knowing nothing about guitar shopping or what's available in Houston, I am reaching out for some help and advice.

I would prefer to buy in advance and have the ability to exchange/upgrade as needed in the event that he would prefer an alternative model
