Grass help – Bermuda grass and lots of weeds

Hi all,

We had some construction being done earlier this year at our house and i neglected the backyard grass quite a bit. It's half grass, half weeds at thsi point. We don't have a lot of area – a 40×10' area and a 40'x5' area.

As you see in the images, it's dead in spots, and lots of weeds.

It's Bermuda grass… what should i do as it begins to get a little cooler in a few weeks? I know i can't just throw top soil and seed down. I'm looking for easiest and least time consuming without going sod or hiring a landscaper. I'm ok with spending a few dollars as needed.
