Good tip for garbage men?

I live in North West Houston, a fairly nice neighborhood, and I’ve noticed when I forget to put my trash can at the street on trash days, our garbage men will walk up our very long (5 cars length) driveway to get our can, dump it, and bring it back up to our driveway. I feel horrible when I forget, and I know having a small child isn’t an excuse (it’s genuinely why I forget what day it is), but I want to thank them somehow.

I know people give their garbage men/women, landscapers, house cleaners, etc. tips around the holidays for being wonderful, but it’s my first time in this situation and no one I know can tell me what is appropriate to give them for always being so helpful on garbage days.

What is the nice thing to do here? I’ve caught them outside before and thanked them profusely. It’s the same 3 men the few times I’ve caught them and they’ve been nothing but nice and understanding, but I want to do something/give them something extra for being so helpful.

Monetary gift? Should I do it the next time I catch them? Is that weird? Or should I wait till the holidays and give a large tip to them?
