Good books about Houston history or politics?

My dad is a lifelong Houstonian and is really interested in reading history/politics books.

I was wondering if there were any good books anyone would recommend on Houston history/Houston political history that I could pick up for him for Christmas. Bonus points if it includes Houston sports history.
