Good apartments for young professional? $1200

I've heard midtown and Montrose is good. Ideally I'm looking to spend around $1200 base and no more than $1500 in total costs. I've tried to find apartments by reviews but almost every one of them has some huge problem like cars being stolen, roach infestations, mold, flooding , etc. I can't tell what is actually good.

Currently looking at Calais and perhaps a Camden, though I hate their mandatory tech fee.

Also if anyone is looking for a room mate, I might be interested. I have a pet cat though.
