Going to Newman’s Castle in Belville this weekend. What else should I check out to make a day out of it?

My sister in law is visiting us this weekend and my wife wants to check out Newman's Castle. I want to ask you fine folks what else I should see/do on the way over there.

I was thinking of going up to Truth BBQ in Brenham for lunch but I'm open to suggestions.

I will have a couple of kids with me – I'm sure they're going to love Blue Bell Creameries. Any other cool spots to check out?
