Getting a house in 3rd Ward

I am an immigrant who ended up settling up in ‘Houston’ (I am living in Cypress) and I am a bit sick it. I am used to being able to walk around and no where here is walkable but its nice and quiet. I also have a 1 yr old daughter and the school are nice

Matter at Hand

My wife and I are thinking of moving to third ward looking to be around Houston and closer to Universities (I like the idea of furthering my education). Third ward looks like a good options and we are thinking of buying a house there. I have been told its not a historically safe neighborhood and the crime stats I see are bit worrying. Its at the edge of our budget so I really need to know how the feel of the place is from people that live there.
