G’day. Help an Aussie understand how to tip in Houston.

As the title may suggest, I am coming to Houston in about a week and want to understand tipping culture there. How much? Where? For what reasons?

I do not want to offend anyone, and I also do not want to spend all my money paying where I don't need too. Coming from a culture where we pay people properly, and only tip where there are exceptional circumstances, I want to do the right thing.
