Gators and Sharks

Hi all,

Sorry if this is a naive question, but I’m a recent transplant to Houston. My girlfriend and I have been interested in kayaking and paddle boarding the various waterways around Houston. Specifically, we were interested in lake Conroe. We read that there are gators in many lakes in the area as well as some reports of bull sharks. That brings me to my question, how dangerous are the waterways in Houston? Are there lakes to avoid?
