Gardening in Houston

Looking for some advice as a first-time gardener. I'd like to grow some of my own food in my yard this year, but I'm not sure what will grow well in Houston, what's still good to plant right now, and where I can get seeds for locally adapted varieties.

Would appreciate any pointers, tips, advice, etc.
