Galveston cruise activity up 13 percent

Galveston saw cruise embarkations reach nearly 1 million in 2018, according to a biennial study from Cruise Lines International Association.

There were 985,000 embarkations at the Port of Galveston in 2018, a 13.3 percent increase from 2016 and up 126 percent since 2010. That makes Galveston one of the few ports nationwide to increase embarkations in each of the two-year periods since 2010, per the CLIA report.

However, Galveston still remains firmly in the No. 4 spot nationwide for total embarkations.…
