Gallery Furniture Bait and Switch?

I needed to buy a sofa in June, and was looking at several stores. One of them was Gallery: there was a sofa for $2999.99. I joked to the salesman that it was just under the $3000 price for the Astros-World Series promotion and he told me if we bought the sofa, he’d throw that in.

We looked at a few other sofas from other stores, and went home and bought our sofa from the Gallery salesman over the phone. Not a great sofa for the price as it turns out, and won’t last a tenth as long as I hoped, but those are the breaks.

Astros win the World Series, I call to find out how to get the promotional refund. After a bit of a runaround, on the third call, the salesman claims he doesn’t remember giving me the offer and says if I don’t have anything in writing I’m out of luck.

I ask to speak to a manager and am told I can only speak to Mattress Mack about this.

Anyone else get the same bait and switch? I can’t be the only guy the salesman pulled this with, they had lots of units priced at $2999.99.
