Fund recovery/Unclaimed Property

I have gotten a couple letters in the mail saying that I am owed 4 figures from a “Texas based public agency.” At first I disregarded them as junk mail but I got a couple from different companies with the same figure which makes me think it may be legit. I have checked the States unclaimed property site, looked at property taxes and didn’t see anything there. Where else can I check so I don’t have to pay half to this company (which is slightly scammy in my mind).
