Fun With Numbers…

I had to do this to keep my sanity. This involves wins and losses.

The Astros are currently 12-22. To reach 90 wins they have to win 62% of their remaining games (I believe ~90 wins is what you’ll need to win the West).

Can they do it? What does history say? Let’s look at 2017 – 2023 minus 2020. I excluded that year for obvious reasons.

Over that time period each month’s winning percentage: May – 66.1% June – 60.9% July – 63.1% August – 55.8% September – 66.0%

Average for all months – 62.4%

Now, these are just numbers and winning percentages. This does not speak to the team nor the hundreds of other data points one can look at when comparing 2024 to other seasons.

I just wanted to see if it was in the realm of possible. Maybe / maybe not.
