From an outsider, how do Astros fans here feel about Dusty as manager?
Braves fan here. Curious as Dusty is now a season and a half under his belt. The Astros were one of the teams that modernized analytics. So it was curious to see an old dinosaur like Dusty hired especially with a guy with a reputation for running arms into the ground in Chicago. But a pennant last year and currently the best team in the AL this year. How is he received?
As a Braves fan, I'm just counting down the days until Snitker retires. Talent and players have bailed out his boneheaded decisions more than once. God mode runs by players we picked up at the deadline last year made him look much better than he managed. Anthopoulos has fielded him championship caliber teams and until last year they've underachieved in a weak division. Last year may arguably have been the least talented team we had in the playoffs dating back to 2018. But again, we had every break go our way and every bounce. It was something Braves fans weren't accustomed to seeing after all the years of playoff disappointment and seeing other teams have all the clutch hits. Rosario's run in the LCS against LA reminded.me of when Beltran went off in 2004.
The DH added to the NL has helped somewhat mask Snitker's managing faults. He no longer has chanced to get cute with double switches and bunting.
