Friendswood/League City Food vs Everywhere Else

I've been in this part of town for a few years now and I cannot understand why the food is so underwhelming or just flat out gross.

The only good places I've gone to are Pelican Diner and Poptop Burgers. They are consistently good.

I just don't understand how food can be so flavorless.

Does anyone else recognize this difference? Any recommendations?
