Houston has a great local comedy scene. I'll list what I know about here. Let me know if I missed anything. I focus on standup shows, but there are plenty great improvisational comedy shows to catch at Station Theater and Comedy Sportz.
WEDNESDAY, 8/18

– 7:30 PM – The Interruption with Tre Tutson ($8) "The Interruption" has a hand-selected lineup of hilarious comedians that have agreed to be interrupted in the middle of their performance by none other than Tre Tutson. If you don't know Tre, He is one of the most flippant, unfiltered, abrasive and of course hilarious Houston comedians and always gets the last word in with these comics. More info here

– 8:00 PM – Laughs & Liquor Comedy Show (FREE) Jeff Joe runs this nice open mic in the large open air room at Brass Tap on Holman. Also they have $1 wings! More info here
AVANT GARDEN
– 9:15 PM – (Upstairs) Goddammit! A Delta-Varied Comedy Show! ($5) is one of Houston's best comedy showcases. Drinks are irresponsibly cheap and the taco truck that's on the property is world-class. Every week, the show features some of the best comics in Houston, as well as frequent drop-ins from out-of-towners and famous comedians.

He rose to fame originally as a stand-up comedian for the late-night at New York's Comic Strip Live. – 8:00 PM – Open Mic (FREE) One of the best comedy open mics in the country happens every Monday at Rudyard's. They've got low ceilings, excellent pub food, and a full bar, making it feel like an old school comedy club (minus drink minimums), plus, the lineup is curated by Houston's comedy queen, Dusti Rhodes!
