Fraudulent call supposedly from Centerpoint
The call was a robocall saying my power would be disconnected in 45-60 minutes, and to press 1 to connect to their billing dept. Um. I *know* my bill was fine, and they hung up on me when I said that. But this bogus threat was clearly designed to convince people to hand over bank data in a panic. Phishing calls are getting more sophisticated, but this is the worst I've seen yet. Caller ID even matched up. I just wanted to warn people in the area this is going on – Be Careful!
P.S. – been much longer than an hour and, unsurprisingly, my power is still on.
