Food trip to Houston coming up – looking for feedback on our food itinerary
Husband and I are driving in from Austin for an extended weekend food trip, mainly for crawfish season, but we're looking to try out some new spots. There's so much good food in Houston – I've narrowed down the places looked most interesting to us, but would love some suggestions, whether to definitely go to a spot I listed, remove from the list and replace with something else, etc. I've also listed what some of our current favorites are just in case that might help someone also looking for recs 🙂
We're mostly interested in Asian and Mexican food – preferably spicy. This time around we're hoping to try some African food since we don't have a lot of that in Austin, so I found some places from this subreddit. I'm also looking for more authentic Mexican and a Chinese/Taiwanese place for flat noodles.
Thanks for any tips!
Here are some of our favorite places:
- Street Food Thai Market
- Asia Market Thai Lao Food
- Crawfish & Noodles
- MF Sushi
- Momma's Tamales
- TJ Birria Y Mas
- Kamalan Bakery
- Magnol Bakery
What we're planning to try:
- Jamaica Paradise Kitchen (Jerk chicken and brown stew chicken)
- Sheba (unsure what to get here, but the chicken and lamb dishes look popular)
- Crawfish Cafe (Viet-Cajun crawfish)
- 88 Boiling Crawfish (Viet-Cajun crawfish)
- Bluewater Seafood (Cajun crawfish)
- Chez Kobayashi Pastries
