Union Kitchen celebrates Selena with special birthday brunch
On Saturday, April 13, all five locations of the Union Kitchen will celebrate Tejano singer and beloved Texas musical icon, Selena Quintanilla-Pérez. To commemorate what would’ve been the singer’s 53rd birthday on April 16, Chef James Lundy and general manager Rebekah Vera crafted several dishes inspired by Selena’s life and enduring musical legacy. Brunch menu items include the Corpus Christi breakfast tacos, a riff on carne guisada tacos from the seaside town, and the “Dreaming of You” churro French toast sticks, which are drizzled with caramel sauce and Nutella. Festive libations, including a gin-laden Como La Flor, and the Bidi Bidi Bom Bom spritzer, are just a few of the cocktails designated for the commemorative birthday bash.

Local Foods opens in Post Oak Plaza
Known for its seafood and chicken sandwiches, hearty soups, and hyper-seasonal bowls, a new location of the Texas chain Local Foods opened in Post Oak Plaza. Boasting the same classic crunchy chicken sandwiches, green chili posole, and harvest salads that made the chain a regular lunch and dinner staple, the new outpost’s menu features several new items, including the blackened tuna with quinoa, blueberries, and avocado; and charred spring asparagus with gouda, Dijon vinaigrette, and pistachios. The newest location is at 1709 Post Oak Blvd.
