Flying High at The Flying Biscuit
At The Flying Biscuit, it starts with a Cute Cupid
There’s something about Southern Food that just makes ya feel good! Whether it’s fried or baked – if it’s Southern style cooking, you know you will be 100% satisfied deep into your soul! I can safely say that has been my experience when walking through the doors of The Flying Biscuit in Memorial City. This Houston area restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch with a full offering from waffles to shrimp and grits.
The Kitchen Tour Went Down Like This:
In the back of the kitchen at The Flying Biscuit, the team is hard at work creating delicious menu items. During the Houston’s Great Eats Feature, we got a behind the scenes look at how they prepare the Stuffed Strawberry French Toast. The secret to this great dish is in the Challah Bread that’s made fresh daily. There’s also the cream cheese filling that hugs the two pieces of bread together as they take the mandated dip into the egg batter followed by a solid toasting on the grill. What follows is pure decadence. Check out the video with the behind the scenes so you can experience it yourself.
The Houston’s Great Eats Feature happened like this:
We tried several things on the menu which included:
Shrimp and Grits: Creamy dreamy white cheddar grits topped with blackened shrimp roasted red pepper tomato sauce and fresh basil.
Chicken and Waffles: A house made golden waffle topped with crispy buttermilk chicken tenders.
Stuffed French Toast: Two thick slices of challah bread dipped in a signature batter, grilled and stuffed with sweet cream cheese topped with raspberry sauce, honey creme anglaise, fresh strawberries and powdered sugar.
Wake Up Burger: Two 1/4 beef patties grilled and topped with two slices of American Cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickle chips.
The Biscuits with the Cranberry Apple Butter Sauce: In my own words, it’s the most wholesome biscuit you could ever try…the Cranberry Apple Butter is so lightweight you could eat it all by itself.
I highly recommend The Flying Biscuit. The menu is five star. I’ve been to the Flying Biscuit several times in the last three years and the service is as amazing as the food.
