First time parking citation and I don’t live in the city of Houston….would you pay it?

I've lived in Houston for 9 years (technically Cypress for the last several years so not even in the city) and received my first parking citation over the weekend. My wife got it on Saturday when parking near a confusing sign in Montrose and I'm tempted to not pay the $75 citation based on this old Chron article along with some things I've seen on here (https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Lax-rules-cost-city-millions-in-unpaid-parking-2087322.php). Really what could happen to me? Will it affect my credit? Will someone drive out to Cypress and put a boot on my car? What would you do if you were me?
