first time driver needs advice

hi y’all!

I (26f) recently moved to houston from nyc for work and don’t drive. coming from nyc, it was never a priority for me. my move happened really fast and I didn’t have enough time to work on getting my license.

I have taken a 1-1.5 hour lesson from a school back home and I have friends in beaumont who have taught me a few times (maybe about 4 or five 1-hour lessons?)

in ny, it’s the norm to go to a driving school regardless of age or experience. i assume it’s not the same here? is it worth me going to a driving school here as well? if so, do you have any recommendations? if not, do I just need access to a car and drive whenever possible to get more comfortable?

forgive me if anything sounds silly, i’m completely oblivious to anything related to driving and/or cars. I just want to get over my fear of driving and have a better way of life here.
