Finding personal belongings of a deceased family member after fatal car crash.

My nephew passed away in a fatal car crash in Harris County. With everything happening the last thing on anyone’s mind was a chain but he had just spent his whole check on buying it.

We received phone / wallet and his glasses but I cannot find his chain. Is it HCSO>Forensics>funeral home? I need to find this item to get back to his father. Thanks ahead of time.
