Favorite road trip spots to experience fall?

My fiancé and I just found out we have several days off around Thanksgiving. Normally we’d visit family in Austin, but so many of our family members are at high-risk for Covid, so we’re not doing any large gatherings. We were thinking it’d be nice to try and find some fall colors/foliage and maybe some hiking with our dog. Does anyone have any favorite getaway spots that are within driving distance for a few days away? Hoping for something with less than a 7 hour drive from downtown. Thanks in advance!
