Farm/Ranch style living in a tiny home – off the grid near houston

We are in our early 50’s , kids in job and college looking to down size and want to one day live in a tiny home with solar panels . 1.We want to be as close to houston as possible since all our friends live there 2.no HOA or restriction to put tiny home / solar panels and be completely self sufficient and off grid 3.safety is a must , we don’t own a gun or have a dog and travel a lot . Is there any place / farmland / gated area which fits the bill .
