Extend Nico Collins now

I understand he has one more cheap year left and only one good season under his belt. However, if he maintains this trajectory, it will cost us more in the long-run. I know everyone wants to use our cap space to sign every superstar under the sun, i want to bring in some great talent too.

BUT we are young and will still improve. We have a full cupboard of draft picks. I think we should use this cap space to front-load Nico’s extension and eat the majority of his money in ‘24, allowing us to add one or two pieces in FA and the rest via draft. This will give us flexibility in ‘25 to potentially add “that one missing piece” and keep our window open. And if it was a one-hit wonder, we can move on easier having already paid most of his guarantees in the scenario.
