Explain why you think its necessary to stop for a school bus when on a 7 lane rd and the bus is on the opposite side of this road. Is this a texas thing?

I just do not understand what is going on. No children are going to cross a 7 lane rd so why the %^&@ are you stopping when they are clearly not crossing the road. I get stopping if you are traveling the same direction but you are going the opposite way. Are you just weird and want to watch kids get dropped off or what? Please someone explain this craziness to me.
