Experience with lap of love? Other at home euthenasia reccs?

To folks who have used lap of love for at home euthenasia, what was your experience like? I'm mostly interested in knowing the progression of events, how involved the vet was, etc. I'm torn between going to vet or at home, my dog is fine with car rides/being out, this would be for me as I don't want to be crying around other people honestly. Like is the vet watching you the whole time, do they step out? If you sought at home within the greater Houston area and chose someone other than lap of love, why and who?
