eMountain Bike on local trails? Allowed, shunned, banned?

Edit for clarification: I’m referring to unpaved trails with no obvious signs posted and little to no foot traffic. eMountain Bikes still travel at normal bike speeds, just require less pedal force.

I’m considering getting an electric assist mountain bike for riding local trails like the Cypress Creek MTB park.

I have a chronic knee injury that limits how hard I can pedal and for how long, so an eMTB would allow me to ride much more often.

I have no interest in really technical trails or jumps, just want to get out and ride more than I currently do. I would generally prefer paved bike paths, but there aren’t a ton of options on the NW side of town.
