Elevation Certificate for flood insurance

Hi Reddit,

My wife and I are fairly new homeowners and are trying to purchase flood insurance for our home. We have reached out to All State since they are also our home insurance and they requested that we send them an elevation certificate before they can give us the quote.

Do you have a recommendation on which surveying company to use for an elevation certificate and is this standard for us to have an elevation certificate? I asked a couple friends about this and they said they never had to provide an elevation certificate. Thank you so much!
