Electricity providers?

So I am not familiar with the idea of choosing from different electricity providers. My last provider was the city I used to live in. There were no other options and I didn't have to compare plans with free weekends or cash-back bonuses. I am overwhelmed and am hoping y'all could give me some ideas of the best providers here.
