Elderly in need of assistance

So an old lady approached my wife and told her the following story. She says that her son died a week ago. Also, she said that her neighbors are abusive and her landlord cut off the electricity from her apartment. She is trying to desperately to move out of that apartment because she is living in a very precarious situation. Where can she get assistant for the elderly or some other kind of housing assistance to help her out? My wife and I are going to give her an extra stove and a microwave that we have stored in the back, but unfortunately we have three kids and are in no position to help her furthermore.
