East Houston good ?

My girlfriends job re located us to Houston so we’re new to the area. We’re looking at buying a home and aren’t having any luck. I’ve came across some decent looking homes that are decently priced in the far east side of Houston specifically Houmont Park area. Is this a good area ? Will I see a decent return on investment on a house or is this area going downhill ? I can’t find much info elsewhere.
