EaDo parking gripe.
So for almost 10 years now Ive been parking for free on clay st just south of 59 to go drinking in EaDo or walking to an event at minutemaid/discovery green. Everywhere else is metered street parking or ridiculously overpriced paid lots. The trade off is that clay st does not have street lamps and is out of eyeshot from any of the surrounding bars or businesses, so you're more or less running the risk of getting your car broken into.
Last night I went to an event in that area only to find that my beloved free parking is gone. The city didn't put up a street lamp to make it safer. The city didn't even bother to put up a physical meter. They put up 2 metal signs telling you to download whatever app and pay to park on that shitty, dark, 2 block long street.
I know I shouldn't be surprised but seriously what the f**k. On a Saturday night there's maybe 5 cars parked on Clay. I'm sure there's more than that during Astros games, but does the parking authority REALLY need that little extra revenue. Ended up paying 3 drinks worth of parking to be in Kim Hung's lit parking lot for the night. I'm not paying to still maybe have my car broken into on Clay, regardless the amount.
