Dry thunderstorm?

There’s been lighting and thunder but rain for the last few hours and I’ve never seen this before in Houston. Are dry thunderstorms unusual for this area? I think it’s a sign of how dry and high the heat index is that there isn’t enough moisture in the air to produce rain 😩 Does anyone know more about this?
