Drivers license and registration

Separating from the navy soon (yay) and currently in japan and driving from Virginia to Houston with expired Oklahoma tags and and expired Oklahoma drivers license (not yay). Do I have to apply for a temp tag from the state my car is registered in? How about drivers license I’d like to have Texas ID. Edit: license is also expired.
