Downtown Lunch Spots

I was looking around for downtown lunch spot recommendations and saw none recently so thought I would create one and start it with my favorites.

1. Doozo's Dumplings – The Shops at Houston Center

I recommend the pork dumplings specifically, though all of the dumplings they offer are solid

2. Deli Deluxe – Tunnels

Big fan of the paneer tikka masala with garlic butter naan, but the chicken tikka and the fried catfish poboy are also good choices

3. Mendocino Farms – Above ground on Main Street

Great and interesting sandwiches, salads, and sides. The only problem they have is they can be slow to get your food ready sometimes

4. Zydeco – South Downtown area

Legitimately my favorite Cajun restaurant in Houston. Recommend the crawfish etouffee, the stuffed pork chop, and the jambalaya that comes of the side of certain things.

5. Frank's Pizza – Above ground near Main Street

Great pizza spot with pizza by the slice available. Pretty reasonably priced as well.

Less lunch specific but still one of my favorites

1. Guadalajara del Centro – Greenstreet

Their fried chicken enchiladas are one of my favorite TexMex dishes ever. Make sure you ask for the green sauce as they default to just giving you the normal red salsa.

RIP – Thai Basil, Bombay Pizza, and Local Foods Downtown
