Don’t think we’ll make any big trades before the deadline and why that’s okay
We all agree our O-line is ass but we can't expect to get great or even good interior offensive line talent without giving up a lot. Frankly, I don't think our problems are solved even if we did make a move because the entire line has been playing below expectation.
Last year our offense was explosive as we leveraged play action even with a paltry running game and an o line that was injured the majority of the year. Slowik has adjusted the scheme this year with all of our starters back and has been running things like they're all fully capable. Lots of under center to drop back passing, far less play action, etc.
I think that Slowik has been slow to make line adjustments because it means admitting that our line talent just isn't good enough as is. That said, if their plan after the jets game is to start scheming around our weaknesses like we did last year, then I think we can start playing like we all expected in the preseason. Go back to play action, quick passes and screens. Mixon has been great so all of that should be even more potent than it was last year.
Maybe this post is copium but I'm still drinking the Kool aid and think we can get right.
