Dog fighting Houston Traffic

This may be a long shot but was anyone traveling down 59 South this morning (9/9) between 7:45-8:15 am and happened to witness a black dog running down the shoulder nearest the fast lane? I've been thinking about that dog all day hoping and praying someone saved it from the possibility of a horrible fate.
