Does anyone know what the hell happened to highway 6 from about 529 to 290?

It almost looks like someone got a giant rake and scraped the entire highway like a monk would do to sand. The side going north is almost two different textures split right down the middle, which feels really weird when driving on it, I felt like it was jerking my car different directions.

The 529 intersection is so bad that everyone is driving through it pretty slowly in order to prevent damage to their tires.
